Easter 2011

Easter Sunday was so nice. The weather was perfect. A little too hot for a 9 month pregnant lady but it was sunny, clear, warm & a little breezy.

We went to our church's Easter service and Ryan didn't cry when we dropped him off in the nursery. ALL the kids were crying when we came back though. They always do once they know the parents are coming back.

We waited until after Ryan's nap to give him his Easter basket.

We tried to show him how to shoot the water gun with his fingers instead of his thumbs....He'll get it sooner or later.

We also got Ryan a new bike.

Taking it back to last Easter - here's how much he's changed!!

Goal #58: Make Something by Hand for Ryan to Play with

I made this cute bunny to go in Ryan's Easter basket. I don't know if he'll ever play with it. He's not big into stuffed animals but it was too cute to pass up.

Goal #20: Learn to use my camera in Manual (and take good pictures!)

For the past few weeks I've been taking a photography class at the local community college. The teacher focuses more on using our cameras in AV (aperture priority) than manual but he's explained enough that I can easily switch over (especially if I use a light meter!).  Here are a few pictures I've taken in manual.

I shot these two macro photos using my regular kit lens.

These two were taken on our class field trip for night shots.

Goal #11: Try 75 new recipes (18/75)

The title of the email said "Roasted Broccoli Your Kids Will Beg For". I enjoyed it! Ryan, however, did not. Ugh!

In a previous post I talked about how I like to roast vegetables with just olive oil, kosher salt and pepper. I had never done broccoli this way or had I even thought of it. I'm glad I found this recipe because I think roasted broccoli is my new favorite roasted vegetable.

Product Rave!!!

#1 Terra Chips (you can find these at most grocery stores, even Wal-Mart)

My aunt kept talking about Terra Chips so I had to buy some and try them out. I got the Mediterranean style. They are made with root vegetables. Sweet potato, parsnip, batata, taro, and yuca. What I really like is that there is a full serving of vegetables in 1 oz. of chips. The chips are wonderful!!! There is a $1 off coupon on their website.

#2 Nothing But Banana, Flattened from Trader Joes

My aunt bought some of these when we went to TJ's. It looks like they took ripe bananas, ran a rolling pin over them and then dehydrated them just enough so they were still sticky and chewy. These aren't hard like banana chips. The only ingredient is bananas. YUM!!
